 Heartland Rooted hosts a monthly event that includes a potluck, or as we call it, a Plantluck. 

We meet at the Grace Technology building, 1515 E. Kimberly Davenport IA on the 3rd Saturday of the month from 11a-1p, with the exception of a picnic in the fall which is held off-site. We enjoy an hour of food and fellowship, followed by an hour of education. 

 

If you are able to bring a dish to share, follow these guidelines: 

!!!Always bring a written copy of your recipe with all ingredients!!! 

(Important for those with allergies or dietary restrictions)

  • Use whole, minimally processed plant based foods to prepare your dish.

  • Fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, whole grains, and legumes!

  • DO NOT BRING any dishes that use animal products of any kind (meat, dairy (including butter and cheese), eggs, gelatin, etc).

  • Avoid or minimize the use of refined products such as flours or sugars (whole grain flours and minimally processed sweeteners are OK)

  • Avoid use of oil

  • Avoid or minimize added salt

Please bring your own beverage. Practice waste reduction and bring your own table service, or use our provided paper plates and plastic ware.

Our annual picnic! Each year we enjoy an outdoor event and love to see everyone's WFPB picnic foods! This year we will meet at Meyer Park at 611 Holmes St in Bettendorf. (The park is just west of the I-74 bridge. River Dr to 6th St to Holmes St will get you there.)  No presentation or lecture, just a good ole fashion WFPB picnic in the park. 

Plantluck Topic - Healthy by the Handful: Creative Ways to Add Nuts to Your Diet. Dr Cheryl True

Heart healthy diets for most people can include nuts, but many don't know what to do with them other than use them as a snack food, nibbling out of a nut dish. This presentation will discuss the relationship of nuts to cardiovascular health and demostrate ways to use nuts in a variety of recipes!
